(VLU, 30/10/2021) - On 29 October 2021, Van Lang University was officially certified by UK’s Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) with a 4-star rating. It is also the current highest assessment for Vietnam’s accredited universities by QS.

According to QS, Van Lang University is the first Vietnamese university to get certified with a 4-star rating in its first assessment.

Quacquarelli Symonds Ltd. was established in 1990 by Nunzio Quacquarelli in the UK. QS World University Ranking was among the organizations specializing in analyzing higher education institutions worldwide along with Times Higher Education (THE) and Academic  Ranking of World University (ARWU).

In general, QS Stars evaluates a university’s quality and assesses the star ranking on the scale of one to five plus. QS Stars consists of eight qualification groups and more than 50 evaluating criteria to help appraise the overall performance. Based on the performance and actual achievements of a university, QS Stars shall assess each category. In particular, the total score must reach 100, 250, 400, 550, or 700 on a 1000-point scale to get a 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5-star rating, respectively. After the assessment process for AY 2020 – 2021, according to QS Stars’ criteria, Van Lang University had achieved 4-star and a 5-star rating in six of eight rating categories, including:

• Academic Development: 5/5 stars
• Facilities: 5/5 stars
• Employability: 5/5 stars
• Social Responsibility: 5/5 stars
• Teaching: 4/5 stars
• Art & Culture: 4/5 stars

Van Lang University honorably received the Rated for Excellence Certificate by UK’s Quacquarelli Symonds in its first assessment.

The achievement from QS Stars 2021 is a positive indication of a persistently improving educational environment at Van Lang University on the way to becoming one of the most desired young universities in Asia soon.

The awarding ceremony to confer the 4-star rating certificate for Van Lang University is expected to take place in November 2021. Van Lang University’s website and other media channels will keep updating information about this event.

Previously in 2021, Van Lang University also received the national accreditation for educational quality for six training majors, including Finance – Banking, Civil Engineering, Tourism Management, Accounting, English Linguistics, and Hospitality Management. Many other majors are currently under assessment for quality under the regulations of the national accreditation for education quality, and AUN-QA’s assessing standards.
