Recruitment of International Students for Academic Year 2021 - 2022

 

Following the guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Training and the internationalization orientation of Van Lang University (VLU), in order to create learning and experience opportunities for international candidates aspiring to study in Vietnam, Van Lang University announces admission for as follows.

I –  VLU’s Undergraduate Programs

1. Admission majors

• Standard program: 53 majors

           Medium of instruction: Vietnamese

• Honors program: 15 majors

           Medium of instruction:

         - For the first year: 100% Vietnamese

         - From the second year onwards: Vietnamese - English bilingual (50-70% of classes of specialized courses will be in English).

2. Admission method

Van Lang University offers direct admission without entrance exams for applicants with criteria as below.

3. Admission eligibility criteria

• Profile: The eligible applicant must meet one of the following criteria
  • Foreign student (in accordance with the Circular No. 30/2018/TT-BGDDT by the Ministry of Education and Training).
  • Foreign citizen who has graduated from high school or who has a diploma at least equivalent to Vietnam’s high school diploma in accordance with the law of Vietnam.
• Education level: Graduating from high schools or equivalentLanguage requirement: attaining Vietnamese proficiency equivalent to B2 (level 4/6) or higher in the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework or passing an interview with the Admission Council of VLU.
  • For candidates wishing to enroll in gifted majors, in addition to the above requirements, candidates must participate in an additional skill test or an interview in accordance with the regulations of VLU.
  • For candidates wishing to enroll in the field of Health Sciences, candidates will be considered based on their high school results or International Baccalaureate results.
• Health requirement: having a health certificate issued by a clinic to qualify for studying at VLU (to be submitted upon admission).
  

4. Scholarship policy for international students

• VLU offers full-tuition scholarships to admitted students for the first two semesters. From the third semester onwards, VLU continues to consider granting scholarships based on the student’s academic results of the most recent semester.
• Once the student is admitted, VLU will award a scholarship for an additional Vietnamese language course at foundation level (studying within three months).
  

5. Admission timeline

Admission for Van Lang University is open the whole year.

6. Admission documents

• Application form for admission (VLU’s form);
• High school transcripts or equivalent records as required;
• High school diploma or International Baccalaureate diploma;
• Birth certificate;
• Foreign language certificate (If any);
• Passport;
• Three photos with size 3x4cm;
• Curriculum vitae (VLU's form);
• Health certificate

Application documents must be translated into  English and must be notarized. Applicants submit the soft copies of the documents first and the hard copies upon arrival.

II – International Affiliate Undergraduate Programs

1. Admission majors

• Business with Marketing; and Business with Event Management (for the affiliate program with Liverpool John Moores University – UK).
• Commerce in Finance; and International Business (for the affiliate program with University of Newcastle – Australia).
• Business Administration (for the affiliate program with Victoria University – Australia). 
  

2. Admission method

We offer direct admission without entrance exams for applicants with criteria as below.

3. Admission eligibility criteria

• Having an International Baccalaureate diploma or a diploma at least equivalent to Vietnamese high school diploma in accordance with the law of Vietnam.
• English requirements:Heath requirement: having a health certificate issued by a clinic to qualify for studying at VLU (to be submitted upon admission).
  • Must attain IELTS 5.5 before starting the second year of the academic program.
  • As for the 2+2 affiliate program with Victoria University, students must attain IELTS 6.0 (no band below 6.0) and GPA ≥ 7.0 upon starting the third year.

 

4. Program duration

• For affiliate programs with Liverpool John Moores University or University of Newcastle: students spend four years studying at VLU and receive a Bachelor’s degree awarded by Liverpool John Moores University or University of  Newcastle.
• For affiliate programs with Victoria University: students spend the first two years studying at VLU then complete the final two years at Victoria University, and receive a Bachelor’s degree awarded by Victoria University.

5. Admission timeline

• Admission round 1: May 3 – June 15, 2021
• Admission round 2: June 20 – August 20, 2021

• Foreign language certificate (IELTS or TOEFL iBT);

• Health certificate
